Mr Alwyn Vorster - Managing Director

Mr Vorster joined Iron Ore Holdings in the position of Chief Executive Officer in November 2010 and  was appointed Managing Director in January 2011. Mr Vorster is a mining professional with more than 25 years' experience in both technical and commercial roles for some of the world’s leading mining houses. Most recently, Mr Vorster held the position of Director Business Development of Oakajee Port and Rail (OPR), the company tasked to develop a new rail and port infrastructure in the Mid-West of Western Australia. He previously held senior geological and business development roles with Kumba Resources (a subsidiary of Anglo American), and was Rio Tinto Iron Ore’s Regional Manager for Asia Marketing and Sales. Mr Vorster has a Bachelor (Honours) in Geology, a Masters in Mineral Economics and an MBA degree.

 

Mr Christian Johnstone - Chief Financial Officer

Mr Johnstone joined Iron Ore Holdings in August 2011.  Mr Johnstone has experience spanning the mining, gas and industrial sectors having previously worked for Wesfarmers Limited for over six years in its Business Development department and at its industrial gas subsidiary (Coregas) in a senior finance role.  Prior to Wesfarmers, Mr Johnstone worked for KPMG Corporate Finance in Australia and Asia and KPMG in Scotland for over 10 years.  Mr Johnstone is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland, a Fellow of the Financial Services Institute of Australasia and holds a Bachelor of Accountancy (Hons), a Graduate Diploma in Applied Finance & Investment and an (Executive) MBA.

 

Mr Manohar Ghorpade - Chief Geologist

Mr Ghorpade joined IOH in 2008 and was appointed as Chief Geologist in January 2011. Mr Ghorpade has over 20 years’ experience in the mining industry in senior geology and exploration roles. Prior to his IOH employment, he was responsible for identification of drilling targets, exploration supervision, interpretation of geological cross sections and resource estimation for various projects with Robe River and Pilbara Iron Ore.  Mr Ghorpade has a B.Sc (Geology) and a M.Sc (Geology) from Gulbarga University, India
